Historic Preservation Consulting

Every old building
has a record.
We help you read it.

Glekas Preservation Consulting helps owners, builders, and institutions care for historic structures with the judgment they deserve — from a single storefront cornice to a full campus rehabilitation.

Preservation, done with rigor.

Historic buildings carry decades of decisions — original materials, later alterations, patched repairs, and everything in between. Glekas Preservation Consulting reads that history and translates it into practical guidance: what to keep, what to repair, what to document, and how to fund the work. The result is a building that stays true to its record while working for the people who use it today.

Approach

Start with the record, not the assumption.

Every engagement begins with the building itself — a walk-through, a review of prior work, and a plain-language read on what's original, what's altered, and what's at risk.

From there, recommendations are scoped to fit the project's real constraints: budget, timeline, code requirements, and the client's own goals for the space.

Step 01

Site survey & documentation

Photographic and written record of existing conditions, materials, and prior interventions.

Step 02

Assessment & recommendations

A clear report: what to preserve, what to repair, and what options exist for each.

Step 03

Funding & approvals

Grant applications, tax credit paperwork, and coordination with review boards where required.

Step 04

Implementation support

Ongoing consultation through construction, training, or exhibit installation.
